This study presented at the 2010 Sleep meeting in San Antonio underscores the relationship between Atrial Fibrillation and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Untreated OSA causes increased cardiac morbidity (illness) and motality (death). According to this study, there was a “remarkable prevalance” of OSA in patient with atrial fibrillation.
It was noted that only a PSG (polysomnogram) can uncover the medical risk associated with atrial fibrillation.
